How to check a company’s turnover by GST number

  1. Get the GSTIN. It is printed on the party’s tax invoice, quotation or letterhead. Check that the format is valid with the free GSTIN checker.
  2. Open GST Intelligence. Log in at app.tradesure.in and go to Know Before You Trust → GST Intelligence. You can view a sample report first.
  3. Search the GSTIN. Tap New GST Search and enter the 15-digit GST number. The report appears instantly.
  4. Read the results and set terms. Compare the turnover range with your order size and look for missed or late returns. Then set a credit limit with the free credit limit calculator.

What the free GST portal shows

The government’s Search Taxpayer tool on the GST portal is free and needs no login, just the GSTIN and a captcha. It shows the legal and trade name, registration date, constitution of business, principal place of business, status (including suspension or cancellation) and the returns filed. Logged-in GST users also see the annual aggregate turnover as a range. TradeSure GST Intelligence puts the turnover range, filing frequency, linked contact details and red flags in one report, so you don’t have to piece them together.

Red flags before you give credit

GST registration is suspended or cancelled

GST returns missed or filed late for several months

Turnover range far smaller than the order you are asked to supply on credit

A very recent registration for a party asking for long credit

Name or address on the GST record doesn’t match the invoice or delivery address

Why it matters

An active GSTIN alone doesn’t mean a business pays on time. Irregular filing and a turnover that doesn’t match the order size are early warning signs. For a full risk view, combine GST data with a Business Credit Report.

Frequently asked questions

How can I find a company’s turnover from its GST number?

Enter the 15-digit GST number in TradeSure GST Intelligence. The report shows the business’s turnover range along with its filing frequency, GST filing history, GST-linked mobile numbers and address.

Can I see a company’s exact turnover?

No. GST data gives a turnover range, not an exact figure. For more detail, ask the party for audited financials or check a TradeSure Business Credit Report.

Is this data public?

TradeSure uses publicly available business data.

How do I check if a GST number is valid?

Use the free GSTIN checker to confirm the format. Then check its status (active, suspended or cancelled) on the GST portal or in a TradeSure GST Intelligence report.

What does a cancelled GST number mean?

The registration is no longer valid, so the business cannot charge GST on new invoices under that number. Treat it as a red flag before giving goods on credit.

Can I calculate GST too?

Yes. TradeSure has a free GST Calculator in the app.
