GSTIN & PAN Format Checker
A valid GSTIN has 15 characters: a 2-digit state code, the business’s 10-character PAN, an entity number, the letter “Z” and a check digit. This free tool checks the format and the check digit instantly, so you can catch fake or mistyped GST numbers before you raise an invoice.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a GST number is fake?
First check the format and check digit with this tool. A mistyped or made-up GSTIN usually fails the check digit. A correctly formatted number can still be cancelled or suspended, so also check its live status and return filing history before giving credit.
What does the 4th character of PAN mean?
It shows the type of holder: P = individual, C = company, F = firm/LLP, H = HUF, A = association of persons, T = trust, B = body of individuals, G = government, L = local authority, J = artificial juridical person.
Does this tool connect to the GST portal?
No. It checks the structure and checksum only, in your browser, and stores nothing. For live registration status, filing history and turnover, use the TradeSure GST report.
Why should I verify a buyer’s GSTIN before supplying goods?
If the buyer’s GSTIN is wrong or cancelled, your invoice will not reflect in their GSTR-2B, they may refuse to pay, and recovering dues becomes harder.
